Philip Seymour Hoffman
Yesterday's passing of beloved actor Philip Seymour Hoffman came as sad news for his many fans and admirers. Hoffman's versatility was unique, and his career spanned a wide range of roles and genres. He could portray viciousness (Hard Eight, Punch-Drunk Love, The Talented Mr. Ripley) as plausibly as he could play feebleness (Boogie Nights, 25th Hour). Throughout his career, Hoffman seemed as invested in serious roles (Before the Devil Knows You're Dead, The Savages) as he was in silly ones (Along Came Polly, The Big Lebowski). He leaves behind a significant body of work that will be studied and remembered.
